Texan Fitness Co-Owner and Coach Ben Stevens has always been competitive, playing sports growing up, but when he got to college, he found the competitive environment of his dreams when he was introduced to CrossFit. He jumped in quickly, having developed the first CrossFit program at Tarleton State University.
That was the start of a journey that led Ben and his wife, Randi, to earn their CrossFit certifications and open their own gym, CrossFit Impressions, in August of 2013. Since then, Ben has competed in a number of CrossFit competitions over the past five years, including the Fittest Games, the OCT in California, Oktoberfest Obliteration in Houston, the South Central Classic in Oklahoma and the Pensacola Beach Brawl in Florida, among others.
CrossFit introduced Ben to Olympic weightlifting, which opened up a new world to him, not just in competing but in teaching. He has worked with and coached Olympic athletes at the national and local levels.
Ben enjoys teaching and coaching because he knows the exhilaration of reaching fitness milestones, and he wants to see them experience the same highs.

Impetus Barbell Club is available for anyone who wants to improve their strength and proficiency in the Olympic weightlifting realm. During these training sessions, athletes will work on not only improving their technique but their strength as well so they can become well rounded Olympic weightlifters. Prior to joining the class, individuals will need to have an understanding of the foundational movements of Olympic weightlifting.
We are here to make something happen, or happen more quickly… and that something is your health and fitness. Through our custom programmed weightlifting classes, you’ll join a community of like-minded athletes who are getting strong together.
What’s a barbell club? It’s a fitness movement that revolves around the barbell, employing movements such as push presses, snatch pulls, front squats and more.
Basically, you’ll learn to throw super-heavy weights over your head safely and confidently. You’ll learn how to improve your strength, speed, and overall athleticism.
